The latest single from Andrés Alcover is the excellent ‘Where Did We Go Wrong?’. It’s a catchy track backed by bright, Elton John-esque piano work and retro acoustic guitar strums that, when combined with Alcover’s vocal, leaves us with a distinctive sound that feels reminiscent of early Bowie and Supertramp. “I lived quite fiercely through my early 20s; somewhat blindly in pursuit of a dream, an end-goal that I was convinced would just land eventually,” he explains, on the background of the track. “I felt like that time flashed before my eyes and I suddenly collided with my own existence. So much had happened but I felt like I had nothing to show for it, just a crippling sense of emptiness and detachment from reality.” Check out the B-side, ‘Resigned’, too. -Dan Peeke.
